CLIFTON HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATES OUR 2025 A LEVEL AND GCSE RESULTS

14th and 21st August 2025

Firstly, congratulations to all our Year 11 and Year 13 examination year groups on their exceptional results this year.

There is often a tendancy to focus merely on and compare the collective grade percentages both nationally and within our own School cohort. However, whilst we are thrilled that all the outcomes of our pupils and students have been commendable, and far exceeded national averages, we also recognise that the true measure of success is entirely personal. Many children have achieved their individual best and beyond, reaching grades that can be celebrated and used as positive turning points in their future direction.

The majority of Year 11 pupils will remain with us to join our Sixth Form community and we will continue to guide them both personally and academically, with a focus on their wellbeing and individuality as they mature in their educational growth. For those that depart and to our Year 13 students who all become Clifton Rosarians, we hope you understand the immense pride we have in you all and wish you a life of exciting adventures that fulfill your hopes and dreams.

We ask of you three things:

  1. To hold Clifton High School close at all times; the memories you made; the friendships you grew and the community you remain a part of.

  2. To carry the values of Clifton High School with you and continue to be led by curiosity, empathy, love and direction whereever you find yourself.

  3. To return regularly as Clifton Rosarians with stories to recall and inspire the younger generations of Clifton High School.

A LEVEL RESULTS

The A level results achieved by our Class of 2025 were outstanding and a true reflection of students' hard work and dedication to their studies. The primary goal of studying A levels is to progress to the next stage of life with the skills and confidence required to thrive. With this in mind, Clifton High School offers a diverse and wide-ranging number of subject option blocks that enable Sixth Formers to select futures that are bespoke to their individual passions, talents and aspirations. Their chosen universities and further education courses, together with alternative pathways include students accepting places at Oxford, York, Sheffield, Reading, Newcastle and Exeter to study degrees in Medicine, Mechatronic and Robotic Engineering, Acting, Fashion Marketing and Criminology to name just a few.

This year's results are testament to and reflective of the excellent standard of learning student's receive at Clifton High School and for which we are incredibly proud. Overall, 20% of students received the equivalent of three A grades or higher and one third of all grades awarded were A*-A and 63% A*-B which significantly exceed national averages of 28.3%. An incredible 100% of students achieved A*-B grades in Politics, Spanish, Classical Civilisation, Music Technology, Product Design and Photography with students also performing strongly in other subjects including Mathematics (82%), Art and History (86%).  A*-A grades were awarded to 57% of students studying Chemistry and 60% studying Photography and Art with 40% of Politics students awarded the top A* grade.

We are also delighted that the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) continues to be a popular choice amongst
our Sixth Form students, showcasing academic curiosity and independence in learning and preparing them well for how they will learn beyond Clifton High School. We are delighted that a 100% pass rate was achieved in
grades A*-C with an overwhelming 55% attaining A*-A grades.

GCSE RESULTS

Our Year 11 pupils have received outstanding GCSE results, matching some of the highest grades we have ever seen in the School's history.  Their outcomes are a clear indication of their commitment and dedication to academic studies and are significant indicators of the added value our pupils have achieved at Clifton High School.

Standing at 96%, our percentage outcomes this year have significantly outperformed the national average pass rate (Grade 9-4) of 67.4%. Statistically, individual subjects where pupils achieved the highest percentages of the top grades (9-7) include English Language 81%, Art and Music 75%, History 73% and English Literature 65%. Additionally, one third of all Mathematics grades were 9-8 and 54% of those who undertook Further Mathematics GCSE were awarded grades 9-8. A total of fifteen subjects has seen over half of pupils achieve 9-7's including Drama, Modern Foreign Languages, Chemistry, Physical Education, Food and Nutrition and Religious Studies.

CONGRATULATIONS

It goes without saying that the subjects our pupils and students study alongside a full co-curricular programme is a careful balancing act, for which they have all excelled. Each child enriches our School life and this year's results are a clear indication of them realising 'individual brilliance' to continue rising above and beyond their success levels.

We thank our parents for their support and continued guidance of their children's education at Clifton High School and we also extend sincere gratitude to our staff members for their expertise and teachings to prepare our young people for their examinations. Let us all celebrate together as a community and wish each and every child the best in their future endeavours.
