& The Hive Pre-School
When you step into our Infant School, you are greeted by warmth, care and joy. We understand the importance of this moment and take great pride in supporting families in this journey to create a setting where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Trust, strong relationships, exceptional pastoral care and inspiring teaching help us nurture children’s confidence and curiosity, laying the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.
One of the greatest privileges of my role as Head is seeing our youngest children grow in confidence and independence each day. Whether they are taking their first steps into the Hive Pre-School, discovering new interests in Infant School life or celebrating personal achievements, every child is encouraged to develop at their own pace. Our teachers recognise the uniqueness of every child and carefully tailor learning experiences to ensure all pupils feel challenged and supported.
Our rich and engaging curriculum is designed to spark imagination, creativity and wonder from the very start. Learning is practical, purposeful and full of opportunities for exploration, helping children develop strong communication skills, resilience and a sense of curiosity about the world around them. Specialist teaching, outdoor learning, creative arts, music and sport all play an important role in encouraging children to discover new passions and build confidence in their abilities.

Infant School Life
Life in Clifton High School’s Infant School is centred on creating a nurturing, joyful environment. While Infant School children share and enjoy the whole School environment as a space for their learning, they enter through their own dedicated entrance and are housed in one of our charming Victorian buildings. The warm and welcoming atmosphere helps children feel settled as soon as they step through the door and maintains the feel of a smaller School setting as they grow in independence and confidence. It also enables parents to feel connected to the Infant School community, maintain open communication with teaching staff and build relationships with other families at drop-off and pick-up times.

Wrap Around Care
In the Hive and Infant School, we offer Wrap Around Care to provide a safe and nurturing extension to the School day for those families who require additional childcare support. Our provision opens at 8.00am, with breakfast club, and ends at 4.00pm, when children are invited to take advantage of our Enrichment Programme.

The facilities are an array of large, bright and airy classrooms, including a mindfulness room with the feature of an indoor climbing frame. Infant School children also enjoy their own playground andoutdoor climbing frames, garden area, innovative equipment and the green spaces surrounding the School. These are complemented by our Music Rooms, Libraries, Theatre, Design and Technology Rooms, Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), Swimming Pool, Gymnasium, and Climbing Wall. Coombe Dingle, an off-site sports complex, offers pupils from Year 2 upwards an additional outdoor environment in which to thrive and play specialist sports.
