Clifton High School's Year 7 pupils participated in a special Paddleboarding session in association with the Big Paddle Clean-Up iniative.
In line with our eco-aims for this year and our 'Marine' target, Year 7 pupils contributed to the national campaign by Paddle UK to focus on preventing plastic waste ending up in the sea.
On Thursday 5th June 2025, Arriving at the Floating Harbour on the River Avon, pupils were administered by a qualifed instructor at SUP Bristol and provided with instruction, equipment, sacks and gloves for the job at hand.
Pupils moved around in a group on their paddleboards, carrying the big buckets with them to pick up any plastic or other non-biodegradeable materials that they came across. Unusual finds included a koala teddy, an entire packed lunch and a yoga mat! In total they collected three large containers of rubbish and enjoyed the evening whilst doing a good deed for the city and its surrounding waters.
