Clifton High School is proud to be the first school in the UK to trial a preview version of Elan IDE, a new, free educational tool created by Richard Pawson to support the development of strong computational thinking and coding skills in young people.
Our Year 9 pupils used Elan to design and build their own quiz programs inspired by Gen Z culture. By embracing a brand‑new programming environment and unfamiliar reference language, pupils demonstrated our core values of curiosity and direction, tackling challenge with confidence and creativity.
We are especially pleased that feedback from Clifton High pupils is helping to shape Elan version 2, which will be unveiled on Wednesday 1st July 2026 at the Craig ’n’ Dave Festival of Computing 2026.
