Working with Parents
At Clifton High School we firmly believe that parents and School should work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and partnership to support the development and learning of each child.
We respect the role of parents in their child's education and welcome opportunities to discuss each child's development and any concerns you may have. Input from parents and carers is valued and you are welcome to accompany your child into the classroom at the beginning of each day. Parents are kept fully informed about their child's progress and the life of the school in general. They are also asked to contribute their own observations to their child’s learning diary, through the use of Tapestry, so achievements are recorded in a two-way dialogue between parent and teacher.
The involvement of our parents in the teaching of the children is very much welcomed. Parents are invited to share their skills in the classroom such as reading a story in their home language, making jam, talking about their occupation or just supporting the children in their play. Parents are also invited to join us on educational visits.
Parents are welcomed to regular parent/teacher meetings, welcome evenings and drop-in sessions. Reports on a child's development are sent regularly and parents are encouraged to make an appointment to see their child's teacher should they require additional time to discuss any aspect of their child. Teachers will not hesitate to contact parents if they feel a meeting would be beneficial; good communication between the school and parents is considered to be of great importance. Each child has a 'key person' within our Nursery School who focuses particular attention on the emotional wellbeing, development and needs of each child. They also act as a point of contact for parents wishing to raise a matter of interest with regards to their child.
