Beyond the Classroom
Children in the Hive undertake a wide variety of activities during the School day. These take place indoors and out. Within the School grounds the girls and boys can enjoy their own dedicated play area which is well equipped with play apparatus and equipment. Within the School grounds we also have a beautiful wildlife pond, forest school area and eco-garden where the children can enjoy supervised wildlife encounters.
The girls and boys also visit specialist teachers in our Senior School who run activities specifically for the Nursery School children. Recent trips to the Senior School have seen the children visiting the Science Department to create a comet and the Art and Textiles Department, where they enjoyed a ‘wax resist’ workshop. The children have also visited the Food Technology room to make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday.
The School is located on the edge of Clifton Village which provides a wonderful resource for our staff and children. The girls and boys benefit enormously from the expertise within the community; local dentists, doctors, builders, café owners, estate agents, post office workers, chefs and hairdressers have visited us or allowed us to visit them.
We are also very fortunate to have access to local gardens, including a stunning and secluded gated garden of mature trees, bushes and a large lawn, just across the road from the School. Children can run freely and safely through the field, climb trees and scramble through bushes and undergrowth. This has been the site of many exciting activities, including artist visits, Easter egg hunts, a dinosaur hunt and a bear hunt!
