Preparation for GCSEs
The choices pupils make for their GCSE and A level courses are important for their future.
Pupils studying at GCSE level often do not have clear further education or career plans at this stage and so it is vital that GCSE choices keep open as many A level options as possible (although it is not always necessary to have a GCSE in a subject to be able to study it at A level).
As pupils move into Year 10 it is not possible for them to continue every subject they are currently studying as there is simply not enough time to study them all to examination level. For this reason many pupils worry about whether they are making the right choices for the future, whether they have clear ideas about their future career aspirations or not.
