We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Keep Britain Tidy, Eco Schools Green Flag Award. We are the first all-through school in Bristol to receive the award and only the 8th School in the local area.

The Clifton High School community came together this weekend for our annual Rose Day celebrations. Dignitaries, governors, alumni and friends joined staff, pupils and parents for our Service of Thanksgiving, Commemoration and Prize-giving. Following this, in the evening, Sixth Form students, parents and staff gathered at school for the annual Rose Day Ball.

The Junior School boys and girls enjoyed a trip to PGL Barton Hall in Torquay. The yearly residential trip is a highlight of the year for the pupils, who have the opportunity to take part in a number of exciting activities, many of which they will not have encountered before!

Year 7 and 8 pupils enjoyed a French and cultural trip to Brittany, taking part in a varied range of visits and activities, immersing themselves in the French language and culture.

The Year 11 Prom took place at the Bristol Marriot hotel in the city centre and was an enjoyable celebration for all of the pupils prior to their GCSE examinations.

This morning the whole school; pupils, staff and parents, gathered outside to enjoy the solar eclipse. Eclipses are quite rare; the last total solar eclipse visible from the UK was in 1999. Today we saw a partial eclipse.

Our Nursery - Year 6 boys and girls have enjoyed a week of activities for our 'One World' themed CHS Book Week. We only have one world and it is precious; this environmental topic ran through the week in classes, assemblies and other activities.

The whole school has enjoyed a mufti day in aid of Comic Relief today. Pupils and staff dressed in red, painted their faces, wore wigs and red noses for the charity. We also enjoyed our 'Make a Funny Face' cake competition.

Last night's Futures and Skills Evening was a resounding success. The evening, entitled 'Your Future Starts Here' aimed to help our pupils make decisions about their future. Advice, work experience and internships are all a vital part of decision making regarding future careers and Clifton High School endeavours to do all it can to support our pupils in finding these opportunities.

Our boys and girls have just returned from a fantastic sports tour to Barbados. The cricket and netball teams played a number of fixtures and not only did they enjoy their sporting fixtures, but they also enjoyed many other activities including a jeep safari and a boat trip.

Yesterday, pupils in Years 2-6 were invited to practise their solo performing skills in front of an audience at an informal music soiree concert held in the Clifton High Music Department.

Members of the Clifton High School community took part in a sponsored 'stomp', walking twelve miles from CHS to Pill. Their efforts, in aid of Penny Brohn Cancer Care, have currently raised an impressive total of over £5000 for the charity.

Year 9 enjoyed taking part in the Flying Start Challenge. The scheme aims enthuse and inspire young people to consider a career in the engineering industry; whilst teaching them about basic engineering concepts.

Year 3-6 performed Christmas 1914 last night, and it was absolutely outstanding. The play considers the first Christmas of WW1, prior to which Britons hoped it would 'all be over by Christmas'.

Reception - Year 2 wowed an audience of family and friends with their Christmas performance for 2014 - 'A Christmas Cracker'. Not only did the children remember their words perfectly, the dances were brilliant, the songs were sung with passion and one number was even sung in French.

Clifton High School pupils were eager participants in the opening of the new Ice Rink in Clifton Village last night. The Junior X Choir sang a selection of Christmas songs and Head Girl Rhiannon Osborne-Tonner delighted guests to a spectacular skating performance.

This year the PA Christmas Fair will feature crafts, refreshments, The Great CHS Bake Off, Santa's grotto, Neal's Yard, Ruby & White turkeys, Stella and Dot Jewellery, Cotswold Fir Christmas trees, Phoenix Cards and much more.

Once again the Marquee was a hive of activity for the final day of our Marquee Week celebrations. The morning of Creative Thinking Day was filled with different creative workshops for the children to enjoy. In the afternoon the Senior School students listened to a talk from Mr Kevin Farrar for IBM on the interesting topic of how IT and technology can be used for innovation in business and explored large 3D shapes in a mathematics workshop.

Monday 13th October was Literary Day in the Marquee. Throughout the day a book fair was available for parents and children to browse and purchase books at their leisure. The day started off with a Harvest Festival for Nursery - Year 6 and their parents then Nursery - Year 2 then spent the morning enjoying a storyteller. In the afternoon we had the pleasure of visits from authors John Dougherty and Steve Voake.

Over the summer Clifton High School relocated and refurbished the Nursery School. There are now two bright, airy and spacious classrooms, each for eighteen children. Also, we have a lovely garden with plenty of space for the children to play, read and exercise.

We are delighted to announce that the Clifton High School GCSE results have mirrored the outstanding performance we saw from our A level students earlier this summer. The Diamond Model together with the school’s philosophy of realising individual brilliance has meant that students can celebrate more than just academic success as they are encouraged and nurtured to explore their talents. The successes they have achieved in sports, drama, music and art will give them skills to help them as they continue their education in the sixth form and beyond.

There has been great cause for celebration today as our A level students received an outstanding set of results. For Clifton High this has been an extremely important day as these are the first set of results for pupils who have been educated since we became fully co-educational and adopted the Diamond Model of education in 2009.

A downpour of biblical proportions did not dampen the spirits of the organisers of this year’s Summer Fair. Stalls were erected inside and out and the festival atmosphere attracted a good crowd. There was a delightful family atmosphere and a good time was had by children and adults alike.

On Saturday 21st June, on a glorious summer day, we held our annual Rose Day service at Bristol Cathedral. This is always a well-loved and special day for the Clifton High School community, this year made all the more special as it included a farewell to Mr Tony Richards, Deputy Head of School.

Reception have been taking full advantage of our wonderful pond this term. The children have visited this area several times and Mr Walmsley, Lead Specialist on the Environment, has shared his expertise with us, even creating a pond habitat within the classroom.

Boys and girls in Years 3 to 6 enjoyed an exhilarating, exciting and for some, life changing time at the annual PGL residential trips. Year 5 and 6 visited Torquay with Years 4 and 5 taking a trip to Liddington near Swindon.

On Friday 7th March, 48 Clifton High pupils took part in the 11th Annual Cross-Country relays at Tockington Manor School. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to work together as a team of 4, completing a distance of 765 metres each!
