Providing a high-quality education and first-class teaching are central to our aims at Clifton High School. Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are staffed by well-qualified, friendly and enthusiastic teachers and teaching assistants. They are a well-established, close-knit staff team and have considerable experience and a genuine passion for teaching young children, ensuring that each child is well supported in their learning.

An atmosphere of stability and security pervades from Clifton High and our staff work hard with the youngest members of our school to ensure their earliest school days are happy, stimulating and fun. Clifton High is well-known for its strong sense of community; staff know children and parents well which creates a mutually supportive and responsible environment; children progress from Reception as happy and confident learners.

As an all-through school, teaching children from 3-18, boys and girls in Reception to Year 2 benefit from the high quality and specialist teaching and skills that are available right across the school. From music to science to sport we ensure our pupils reap the benefits of being taught by specialists. In addition to this, many members of staff have interests outside of teaching, which we draw upon in our extra-curricular programme.

Our staff are specialised in either delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage or the Primary Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2, curricula. We are committed to ongoing training and our staff regularly attend professional development training courses, keeping abreast of current thinking and educational practice.

Our teachers are also supported by our Enhanced Learning Department. This department provides additional support for those children who may need some extra help in certain areas or extension activities for those children identified as gifted and talented or requiring English as an Additional Language (EAL) support.
