Children in Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed Reading Week which took place between 3 and 7 March. Events included an exciting visit from author Rebecca Lisle, competitions to create a bookmark and a library poster and, on World Book Day, children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite fictional character.
Children in Years 3-6 were tasked with creating their favourite book out of cereal boxes and the results were impressive, demonstrating not only the variety of reading that takes place but also the creativity and imagination of our boys and girls.
Also during the week, children in Year 1 were visited by Mr Fletcher our Executive Chef. He brought along some of his favourite books - one was a cookery book where he had some of his recipes published and the other was Roald Dahl’s revolting recipes!
On top of all this the boys and girls still managed to squeeze in the Readathon sponsored read as well as visiting the Scholastic book fair where, at the last count, children had ordered a total of 286 books. What a great week!
